16 weeks and my tummy is growin'

Photobucket
Today marks 16 weeks. It is still so surreal to me. But, it is sinking in more and more that I really am pregnant. Once I start feeling the baby moving around, I am sure it will really sink in. It is so hard since you really feel pregnant in the first trimester and then you move onto the second trimester when the symptoms are less and you are waiting for your belly to pop. Getting there, though :)

Let's see what has happened in the last two weeks...Hmmmmmm. Well, I am currently on leave from work. Working with my students was proving to be more challenging, as I have some very physically involved students. Most likely, I will be out for the remainder of the school year.

Last week I had a doctor's appointment at my OB. Everything looked good, and the baby's heart rate was in the 150's. My next appointment is on February 28, and it is our gender scan. yes, we are finding out the sex of the baby. Morgan and Greg really want to know. Morgan will be coming to the gender scan with us. We are very excited to find out. Now, while as I was at my doctor appointment, I discussed with my doctor how I have heart palpitations. My heart, at times, feels like it is beating out of my chest. He said this was common with pregnant women since there is increased blood volume. However, I mentioned to him that it feels like it pauses when it goes from beating really fast to beating a normal rate. Given my family history of heart issues, he suggested that I see a cardiologist to make sure that all is ok. I have an appointment tomorrow morning.

As far as how I have been feeling.......well, I am definitely feeling much better that I was during the early part of the pregnancy. However, I have my days when I feel nauseous, tired, out of breath, and have head aches. Head aches have been more frequent in the mornings. My food aversions remain inconsistent from day to day. Some days I like certain foods and other days I don't like those foods.

Overall, a good past few weeks. Waiting for my belly to pop and to feel those first movements of the baby.
